Add Mojeek to Safari iOS

The stock version of Safari only allows you to pick between Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Ecosia when it comes to your choice of default search engine. We therefore would recommend not using Safari on iOS if you'd like to also use Mojeek. We have a Mojeek App for iOS that can easily be used to search with Mojeek as your default search engine and as a web browser.

Add to browser

There is an extension called Hyperweb, developed by Laso Technologies, that you can use break out of the defaults set by Apple. The Hyperweb app gives you a lot more options when it comes to customising your Safari experience, but for this page we will just focus on using it to set Mojeek as your default search engine.

Please make sure that you read the Hyperweb privacy policy before continuing on with this method and make sure that you are happy with the data they collect and what they use it for.

  1. Download the Hyperweb app.

  2. Open your iOS Settings.

  3. Head to Safari > Extensions and turn Hyperweb to On allowing it with All Websites and then returning to the screen before and turning all of the content blocker toggles to on.

  4. Open the Hyperweb app and click at the bottom where it says I've done steps 1, 2, and 3 and make a decision on if you want notifications on or not.

  5. Scroll down to Personalize Search and press on Override search engine.

  6. Toggle Mojeek to on.

  7. You should now be able to search directly from the address bar of your browser.

Add to Safari Homepage

  1. Open Mojeek using the Safari browser on your iOS device.

  2. Tap on the Share Icon. We recommend that you do this from the homepage (tap to open in a new tab):

  3. Scroll until you see Add to Home Screen and press this:

  4. Tap on the Add to Home Screen button.

  5. Tap on the Add button:

  6. Once added, you'll have a Mojeek App Icon on your Home Screen.

iOS app

We also have an app which you can download from the App Store.
